Cape Verde comprises of ten islands and eight islets.
Geography : The countries nearest to Cape Verde are Mauritania and Senegal. The total area of Cape Verde is 4033 km. The islands are divided into two groups called Ilhas de Barlavento and Ilhas de Sotavento. All the islands of Cape Verde are volcanic in origin and the structures of the islands are 125-150 million years old.
Climate : The climate of Cape Verde is cooler than that of the African continent. However there is hardly any rainfall apart from the short downpours. The northeastern slopes of the island receive better rainfall than the southeastern slopes.
Tourist Attractions : Cape Verde is well-linked to the rest of the world through its airports and seaports. Improvements in the Mindelo’s harbor and at Sal’s and Praia’s Airports have resulted in significant growth of the tourism of Cape Verde. 475,294 tourists were recorded in 2011.
