Chengdu Panda Base is also referred as Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. It is a non-profit entity; and apart from pandas, it is also the breeding facility for some rare animals. Founded in 1987, Chengdu Panda Base is situated in Chengdu, Sichuan, People's Republic of China.
From Few to Many Pandas
Chengdu Panda Base initially had six giant pandas. These were saved from the wild and brought here. By the time the year 2008 year arrived, Chengdu Panda Base was proud to tell it has one hundred twenty four pandas’ births. The population of captive pandas in Chengdu Panda Base had also reached eighty three during the same year.
Goal
The goal of Chengdu Panda Base is to establish itself as a top-notch research facility, international educational tourism destination and conservation education center.
