Spanning an area of 226 acres, the Ocean Park is divided into two sections by a mountain, which are the Summit (Headland) and The Waterfront (Lowland). These two sections are connected by a cable car system and the ocean express funicular railway. Owing to its wide expanse, visitors can use the world’s 2nd longest outdoor escalator to move across the Headland.
It is one of the most-visited theme parks in the world & also holds the honor of being the largest theme park in Asia. The park boasts of more than 80 attractions and rides including roller coasters. It has a marine mammal park, oceanarium, animal theme park and amusement park.
Besides entertainment, the Ocean Park also contributes significantly in terms of wildlife education for which it has many operational observatories, labs and an education department. The park also heads a foundation i.e. Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, Hong Kong which is dedicated to conservation of wildlife and habitats in Asia.
The animal exhibits are theme based including a giant panda section, an exclusive aquarium for jelly fishes and Chinese sturgeon. There is also an aquarium dome where visitors can view 5000 different fishes.
