Belonging to the fabled Ming Dynasty, Yu Garden is synonymous to peace and comfort. It is situated at the heart of the bustling Shanghai. The garden is a must visit with its beautiful scenery, brilliant architecture and stunning rockery. Spread in an area of 20,000 square meters, the small size is not indicative of the stunning attractions in the garden. The rockeries, ponds, halls, cloisters all possess a unique charm. Sansui Hall, Dianchun Hall, Wanhua Chamber, Yuhua Hall, Inner Garden and the Huijing Hall are the six major scenic areas here.
One of the biggest attractions of the garden is the amazing Jade Rock. It is a beautifully-shaped grotesque rock weighing 5 ton. The rock is set apart by its slender shape, numerous holes, translucent nature, etc. The first thing you see on entering the garden is a marvelous piece of rockery the Great Rockery. About 50 feet tall, you get a bird’s eye view of the garden from the top of the rock.
The classical Chinese garden is a must-see place for every tourist in China. Numerous painting, flower, stone and lantern exhibitions and tea ceremonies are held in the garden. Yu Garden is indeed “the crown of beauty”.
