Climate & Geography

The climate on the coasts of Iceland is sub-polar oceanic. The warm temperature remains in the country throughout the year due to the North Atlantic Current. In spite of being closer to the Arctic Ocean, the island's coasts remain ice-free in winters. Diversity can be observed in the climate of the country. The southern coast of Iceland is warmer, wetter and windier than its northern part. The coldest part of Iceland is Central Highlands. Snowfall in winter is more common in the north than the south.

Reykjavík is the capital of Iceland, also the largest city in the country.
