Ahmednagar is in Maharashtra, India. It is easy reachable from Pune (120 km) and Aurangabad (114 km). The city was named after Ahmad Nizam Shah I. In the year 1494, he founded this city after his victory over the greater Bahamani forces. After breaking his relationship with the Bahamani Sultanate, he established his own in Ahmednagar. It was better known as Nizam Shahi dynasty.

St. John's Catholic Church is a typical demonstration of the British architecture. During the 18th century, a huge number of military units were organized here. But at that time, there were no sacred recovery for them nearby the city in the form of shrines. The padre had to arrive there every day staright from Kirkee. Today, this church is recognized as a significant historical monument in Ahmednagar.
History:
St. John's Catholic Church, Ahmednagar was constructed during the British rule in India. The British government had stationed a few important units of their in the city since 1817 there. Graves in the churchyard and the engravings made there depict information about those units. The church records say that the first Army units of the British government that arrived here were the cavalry regiment of the British India. From 1830 onwards a huge number of British regiment troops used to visit sent by the East India Company. After that from 1840 onwards, Ahmednagar thrived as a cantonment.
