Religious: The city is the home to Harmandir Sahib, popularly called Golden Temple. It is the most important Sikh pilgrim which is always abuzz with hundreds of people. Durgiana Temple is a very famous cave temple.
Historical- The Jallianwala Bagh is the site where the massacre occurred during British regime, killing thousands. The well in which people jumped and drowned is a protected site inside the premises.
Museum: Summer Palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh has a collection of relics from the Sikh period, such as weapons, coins, miniatures and other items.
Food: It is a must to try some of the specialties of this city. Some of them are langars at the Golden Temple, lassi (buttermilk), amritsari fish, tandoori kulcha, pinnis and laddoos.
