Bharuch is a populated city located in the Indian state of Gujarat. In the previous times, it was called by the name of Bhrigukaccha, Bhrigunagar, Bhriguritha etc. During the British rule, Bharuch was called as 'Broach' by the British. However, the name Bharuch was accepted as the official name of this city. Today, this city is considered as sacred by the followers of Hinduism and Jainism.
The city of Bharuch stands on the banks of the River Narmada. It is elevated 50 feet above the sea level & has a humid climate. During the summer season, the temperatures rise up to 40°C and fall down at 25°C on an average during the winter months. It receives a sufficient amount of rainfall during the monsoon months. The annual average precipitation received by Bharuch is 2800 mm.
