Bir Talab Zoo

Located on the outskirts of Bathinda, Bir Talab Zoo has been attracting tourists from the oldest city of Punjab with its exciting recreational activities and rides. It was established in 1978 by the Red Cross Society but in 1982, the Forest and Wildlife Protection Department of Punjab took over its administration. It is an ideal picnic spot for families and friends to spend some quality time and witness the charms of birds and animals housed herein this zoo. The bird enclosure has various birds like unique species of peacocks, parrots, parakeets, pigeons, and many other colorful fowls. The different species of deer, especially the rare black buck, are also a major attraction here.

1)    Special species of birds like parakeets, peacocks, pigeons, and fowls.

2)    The rare black buck, sambars, and cheetah which can be spotted enjoying their leisure time in the zoo precincts.

3)    Deer safari and other recreational activities. The exciting rides also attract tourist to this zoo.

4)    The well-manicured and lush green garden lawns that serve as an ideal picnic spot for families.

Best Time To Visit:-
The Bir Talab Zoo is open for everyone all year round. While most families love to visit this zoo with their children during the summer vacations, the best time according to weather and for animal spotting is October to December and February, March. Deer come out of their enclosures to bask in sun during this time making it easy for the tourists to spot the rare black buck here.

Reaching There:-
This zoo is located just 6kms outside the Bathinda city, which makes reaching this attraction quite simple. It can be easily reached by public transports like buses but tourists prefer taking cabs or taxis to reach this place comfortably.
