No one requires a special date for paying a casual visit to Malnath Shiva Temple. It is a holy shrine and is visited daily by the locals and tourists, especially on Mondays and sacred event of Maha Shivaratri.
On the occasion of Maha Shivaratri, the devotees start visiting the shrine in the early morning and perform the abhisheka from the Panchamrit. Special prayers are conducted and Prasad is also distributed among everyone.

When you visit the holy temple of Malnath Mahadeva, as told by the locals, you shouldn’t be carrying any leather item, alcohol/cigarettes, non-vegetarian items, and ammo. These items aren’t permitted inside the temple as they are impure.
