Bara Kaman requires no introduction. It is a renowned historical monument on the city of Bijapur. It is the unfinished mausoleum of Ali Adil Shah II. Its construction began in the year 1672 but was discontinued due to unknown reasons. It is said that Ali Adil Shah II was murdered on the commands of his own father, Muhammad Adil Shah. His father never wanted him to build a more glorious structure than Gol Gumbaz. Presently, this unfinished mausoleum houses the tombs of Ali Adil Shah II, his wife, mistresses, and daughters.
