Rasmancha is one of the top-notch and highly applauded buildings in Bishnupur. Many tourists come there to witness the cultural royalty of this place. The monument was erected by Mallabhum king Hambir Malla Dev (aka Bir Hambir) in c. 1600 AD. This tourist place has its own history as wells social importance. Until recently, this was the place to celebrate Vaishnava Ras festival for entire Bishnupur. So when this festival was celebrated, Radha Krishna idols of all the temples of Bishnupur town were brought there to be watched and adored by the worshippers. It was only till 1932 that this festival was celebrated annually.
Architecture:
There is no denying the fact that from the architectural point of view this building is counted amidst the most unique and one of a kind temples of all the temples located in Bishnupur. This is a temple that stands on a square platform of size 24.5m X 24.5m built of Laterite blocks. Moreover, it is also to be noted here that the square foundation is 1.5m high and moreover over and above the platform, there is a brick structure of 12.5m high. In addition to this, the roof has a pyramidal summit surrounded by 'Chala' type structures. The entire ceiling is supported by 40 pillars and arches on four sides that are decorated with artwork of flowers and human figures.
