Lakshadweep is a group of islands in the enormous Arabian Sea. This archipelago is a Union Territory of the Indian Government since 1956. After the reorganization of the states in the year 1956, these islands were known by the name of Laccadive Islands, Minicoy, and Amindivi. In the year 1973, these islands officially got the name Lakshadweep. At present, Lakshadweep Islands are a frequented holiday destination in India.
Lakshadweep Islands unfold across a total area of 2000 sq. kilometer. Being an island, a major portion of its land is a soft terrain. Due to its location in the Arabian Sea, the climate of this place is subtropical in nature. The summers are flaming and winters are pleasant. During summers, the average temperatures scale between 30°C-40°C. The winters witness a drastic downfall in the mercury because it ranges between 22°C-27°C.
Due to its location, Lakshadweep is an appealing holiday destination. Each year, it welcomes hundreds of tourists including the foreign nationals.
