Perched atop Brahmayoni Hill, the sacred shrine of Brahmayoni is a marvelous tourist-cum-religious site in Bodhgaya, Bihar. This temple is said to represent the female energy of Lord Brahma, the creator of the world according to the religious Hindu texts. Brahmayoni Temple was constructed by a Maratha-chieftain, Rao Bhau Saheb, in the bygone era and has a flight of 424 steps.
Why Is It Famous?
1) Brahmayoni Temple is an ancient shrine on the highest peak in Gaya.
2) The hill houses 2 caves known as Brahmayoni Gufa and Maitreyiyoni Gufa. Moreover, a temple of Sri Ashtabhuja Devi can be seen as well.
3) A small temple is located in the Brahmayoni Gufa where a five-headed idol of Brahma is installed. It represents the creative & female side of Lord Brahma.
4) Climbing atop the hill provides a great panoramic view of the nearby area.
