History

Chail is a small hilly hamlet that is majorly known for its excellent structures that were built by none other than Maharaja Bhupinder Singh, the Maharaja of Patiala. He was gifted a piece of land in the lap of nature in Chail where he not only built his magnificent Chail Palace ( now a heritage hotel) and the Chail cricket stadium but also the Chail Gurdwara.

The history of the Chail Gurdwara dates back to the early nineteenth century. It was built by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh in 1907 and has since attracted many of the followers of Sikhism. Apart from that, the scenic setting of the Gurdwara also makes it a popular tourist destination. It was managed by the Gurudwara Management Committee that is officially working in association with the Germany Association. There is also a helper that looks after the Gurudwara's management and works for around four hours a day here. The current person who is taking care of all this management work is Giani Pritpal Singh.

All of the festivals related to Sikhism, especially Guru Nanak Jayanti and Guru Purab, are celebrated with pomp and vigor here. The Gurudwara is decorated with flowers and ribbons and people from different parts of India visit this Gurudwara during these festivals to take part in its merriment. Apart from that Baisakhi is another festival when the gurudwara gets decked up in pretty colors.
