Budan Giri is a mountain range located in the Chikmagalur district. The Baba Budan Giri or Datta Peeta is a popular tourist destination which is visited by a number of people. It was earlier known as the Chandra Drona Parvatha and is located in the majestic Western Ghats. It is a scared and pious hilly site which is named after the Muslim saint Baba Budan. Not only Muslim devotees, but Hindus also visit this holy site to offer their prayers. There are three caved on the Baba Budan Giri hills which are said to be sanctified by the three Siddhas. A unique mountain flower, known as kurinji, also blossoms on these hills only once in every 12 years during the flowering season. People also love taking a walk among the coffee plants which blossoms during the flowering season and fill the atmosphere with a light aroma.

Best Time To Visit:-
The flowering months (March and April) are the best time to visit the Baba Budan Giri hills. The early winter months are a great time to visit these hills. Every year, on the festival of Diwali, a beacon is lighted on top of the hill which can be viewed even from the Chikmagalur district.

Located around 28kms north of the Chikmagalur district, the Baba Budan hills is easily accessible via road network. Local buses, autos or a private cab can be taken to reach the foot of these hills.
