Kodanda Ramaswamy Temple is a famous Hindu temple in Chikmagalur. It is located near the River Tungabhadra. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Rama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. In this temple, life-size idols of Lord Rama, his sibling Laxmana, and Devi Sita are placed in the main sanctum. All idols of the deities are carved out of the single rock.
It Is Known For:-
1) This temple of Lord Rama is said to be constructed on the exact spot where he crowned Sugriva as the new king of the primates. The uniqueness of the temple lies in its sanctum.
2) Unlike other Lord Rama temples, where Lord Hanuman is depicted in a bowing position in front of him, here devotees can witness Sugriva bowing in front of Lord Rama.
3) The whole temple is a beautiful amalgam of the Hoysala and Dravidian style of architecture. The interiors, as well as exteriors, are carved in an intricate manner.
4) Rama Navami is a major festival that is celebrated here enthusiastically and devotees start visiting this temple in early morning.

Watch Out!
This shrine maintains a stern decorum in terms of dressing. Every visitor is expected to enter the temple premises in decent attire. If you aren’t wearing a decent attire, oops! You cannot enter.
