History:
You must be curious about its name! Why is this temple named as 'Bharat Bilap' According to the mythological explanation, this is the place in Chitrakoot where lord Bharat came to meet Lord Rama to persuade him for returning to Ayodhya and reoccupy the throne of which he deserved. It is said that the emotions generated through this divine meeting between these two special characters of Ramayana were so powerful that the objects nearby them melted with the heat. It is also said that the mountains and rocks shed tears on their separation.
Festival:
On the full moon day that normally happens during October-November of the year, a play depicting the reunion meeting of the two brothers is organized by the local people here inside the temple premises.
Best Time to Visit:
If you are comfortable traveling anytime anywhere in India then you can visit Bharat Milap, Chitrakoot all through the year. In fact, pilgrims often come to visit this place throughout the year. Summers are hot here but winters are pleasant and cool. Thus, from October to March, Chitrakoot remains at its best for explorations and sightseeing.
How to Reach?
Chitrakoot district is situated in Uttar Pradesh. U.P. has no airport in the state but it is easily reachable through road and train.
• By train – You need to board a train that reaches Chitrakoot Dham Karwi railway station. It is situated approximately 11 km away from the temple. After reaching the railway station, simply hire local transport to reach your destination. It will be nearly half an hour of the journey.
• By road – this particular district is well connected via roadways to most of the major cities in India. Besides this, it is comfortably connected with its neighbor cities like Varanasi, Vindhyachal, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya.
• By air – as Chitrakoot does not contain any airport, to reach here by airways, you need to board a flight to Prayagraj. It is the closest airport to the district (116 km away). After reaching this airport you can ride on any private or public transport to reach your destination.
