Omkareshwar Temple of Coorg is a major Hindu shrine in the city. Built in the bygone times, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was erected during the rule of King Lingarajendra II. This pilgrimage spot was built as a penance because to fulfill the political ambitions, the king killed a Brahmin and was later haunted in his dreams. He built a Shiva temple and installed the Shivalinga that was brought from Kashi. This Shivalingam is worshiped as Omkareshwara.
