Talakaveri is a holy village in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is located in Coorg district and is said to be the source of the river Cauvery. This place stands by the side of the Brahmagiri Peak and has a temple that was erected under the reign of the Kodava dynasty. This temple enshrines Goddess Kaveri and also has the temples of Lord Ganesha and Sage Agasthya. There’s an interesting tale behind this. It is said that the River Kaveri was trapped inside the kamandal of Sage Agasthya that was freed by Lord Ganesha. He took the form of a crow and split the kamandal in order to release the flow of the river.
