Constructed in the 17th century, Ram Rai Gurudwara is a sacred Sikh shrine in Mussoorie. It was built by Guru Ram Rai, the eldest son of the seventh Sikh Guru, Baba Har Raj Ji. This Gurudwara attracts countless devotees from Sikh as well as Non-Sikh communities. On each festival, observed by any faith & religion, this Gurudwara is decorated beautifully.
The History of Ram Rai Gurudwara:-
Ram Rai Gurudwara has an interesting history behind its construction. According to a legend, Ram Rai was rejected for becoming a Sikh Spiritual Leader (Guru) and was forced to leave his native place. He arrived in Dehradun after leaving his native place to set up his camp. He started helping the needy and curing the ill using the miraculous powers he possessed. The ruler of Garhwal, Fateh Shah, was impressed after he heard about Guru Ram Rai. He extended help in constructing the Darbar Sahib and today, it is a renowned Sikh pilgrimage site in Mussoorie. It is visited by the devotees of all faiths and serves langar to hundreds of people on a daily basis.

At present, Ram Rai Gurudwara is a major site for Sikhs in Mussoorie. It also observes the various other festivals that are celebrated in the country. After the festival of Holi, Jhanda Festival is celebrated here in which numerous Sikh devotees participate.

Ram Rai Gurudwara is a religious site and can be visited throughout the year. It can also be visited during the festive season of Gurupurab, Vaisakhi etc.
