Deoghar is famous tourist site in Jharkhand. It is a part of Santhal Pargana district and was formed in the year 1983. Deoghar is best known for housing the pristine site of Baidyanath Jyotirlinga. It is a shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and is visited by a large number of devotees throughout the year.
The city of Deoghar is elevated 833 feet above the sea level and spans a gross area of 2,478 sq. km. The terrains of this city are defined as semi-fertile and are considered as apt for growing the Rabi crops. The tributaries of Mayurakshi River quench the thirst of the terrains and people of Deoghar. This city faces a humid climate. The summers are scorching as the average temperatures shoot up to 38°C. During winters, the temperatures fall down below 19°C. An ample amount of rainfall is received by Deoghar with an annual average of 2500 mm.
