Literally translating to the Lord of Vasuki, the snake, Basukinath Temple is a famous Hindu temple in the Indian state of Jharkhand. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was constructed centuries ago. The management is looking after the temple that has been helping in maintaining the old-world charm of the temple.

1) Basukinath Temple is said to be the place where the snake Vasuki offered his tributes to Lord Shiva prior to the Samudra Manthan mentioned in the Puranas
2) The Shivalinga inside the temple was installed by Vasuki himself
3) Basukinath Temple is also known as the ‘Court of Lord Shiva’. Many small shrines of other Hindu deities like Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman, Lord Krishna are located within the premises of Basukinath Temple
4) The temple of Goddess Parvati is located exactly in front of the sanctum. Devotees leave the space as they believe that Lord Shiva & Parvati meet when the doors of the temples are opened at the same time.

People visit Basukinath Temple on a daily basis. But, the best time to witness the beauty of the temple is on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri. The whole temple is decorated beautifully and a pompous procession in carried.
