Garpara Satra is an ancient monastery located in Dibrugarh. This holy place was established during the reign of the Ahom dynasty. It served the purpose of educating the society as a religious institution. The first priest of the Satra was Narimaider. Even today, the place is widely visited by the locals and Buddhist monks.

Garpara Satra was established during the Ahom rule in the region. The sole purpose for establishing it was to promote the socio-cultural activities apart from religious preaching. Numerous monks, in the previous times, used to visit and meditate in this monastery. The zonal authorities and the government are shifting the monastery to a different place due to some reasons. The work for the same is being carried on at pace.
