Digboi is a charming town located in the Indian state of Assam. The place is well-known as an oil town due to presence of crude oil in abundance. The story behind its name 'Digboi' is quite interesting. When the British officials discovered crude oil, they hired the local laborers for digging oil wells. To boost their motivation the British officials kept saying 'dig boy'. In this way, the town of Digboi got its name.
Standing on the banks of Dihing River, Digboi unfolds across vast acres of land & is elevated at 541 feet above the sea level. The alluring townof Digboi has a moderate tropical climate. Amid the year, it encounters pleasant temperatures. The median temperature during summer remains 35°C and the drops during the winter season at 15°C on an average.
