Dungarpur is a city that lies in the southern most part of the Indian state of Rajasthan. It was founded in the 14th century by the Rawals of Mewar. Dungarpur is named after Dungaria, a Bhil chieftain that served the royal family for a longer period of time. In the present scenario, the city of Dungarpur is promoted as a tourist site by the government of Rajasthan.
Dungarpur is elevated 738 feet above the sea level and is spread over vast acres of land. A major portion of the land is a lofty terrain as Dungarpur is surrounded by the hills of Aravali. The climate of the city is dry in nature. It encounters hot summers with an average temperature of 39°C and pleasant winters with an average temperature of 13°C.
