Eluru is a township in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. In the past, Eluru was known as Helapuri as it was a part of the Buddhist kingdom of Vengi. The region was ruled by the dynasties like Salankayana, Vishnukundina and the Chalukya. During the British rule, Eluru had served as a military service station as well.
