Kedarnath Sanctuary is situated in chamoli district of Garhwal Uttarnachal. The wonderful stretch of the Himalayas offers a glorious view of snow-clad mountains, valleys, forests and grasslands, exotic butterflies and flowers. There are so many spices of mammals and birds exists in the sanctuary.
The important mammals are snow leopard, snow cock, tahr, musk deer, serow, leopard, himalayan bear, sambhar and bharal.
The sanctuary has a large number of Hindu temples located within its precincts. Kedarnath temple is the most historic of these and is visited by a very large number of pilgrims.[8] This temple dates to the 8th century. Other temples, though not of matching importance, have strong legends related to the epic Mahabharata days. These are the Mandani, Madhyamaheshwar, Tungnath, Ansuya Devi and Rudranath.
