Location- The sanctuary is situated amidst various hills in the junction of Ponda Talukas, Sattari Talukas and Sanguem Talukas. It is at a distance of around 38kms from Margao and around 50kms from Panaji.

Bondla wildlife sanctuary is located at a distance of 38kms from Margao and is one of the favorite destinations of school children. The wildlife spreads over an area of 8sq.kms and is the smallest sanctuary of Goa. The sanctuary is similar to a resort and people here can fully enjoy the beauties of Mother Nature at its best. The sanctuary remains open throughout the week except on Thursdays. The forest department has built various cottages here for the tourists so that they can experience the maxim thrill & pleasure. The best way for viewing the sanctuary is through an elephant ride.
Flora- The sanctuary abounds in natural cover that mostly comprises of moist deciduous forests and in some cases even evergreen forests. There are various species of vegetation like terninalia crenulata (Matti), Jamba, Kindall, lagerstroemia, saraca indica and many more. One can also find here large number of giant lianas (Entada) and bamboo bambusa arundinacea around. The sanctuary is also full of various rose plants that make the place more charming & beauty.
Fauna- Bondla wildlife sanctuary is a home to various animals, sambhar deer and gaur being the most common. In addition, there are various other animals like panther, leopard cat, jungle cat, spotted deers, barking deers, wild boar, toddy cat, porcupines, Malabar giant squirrel and many more.
Avifauna- The sanctuary is home to more than 100species of birds that include ruby throated yellow bulbul, golden backed woodpecker, common grey hornbill etc.
Chief Attractions
Deer Safari Park- There is a park within the sanctuary, which comprises of various deers like spotted deers, sambar etc. One can move around the park freely in vehicles.
Zoological Park- The sanctuary has a zoo, where one can see various types of animals within the enclosures. The zoo includes various animals like lion, panther, gaur, sloth bear, spotted deers, reptiles, crocodiles, barking deer and many more.
Formal Gardens- The sanctuary is full of various types of trees, roses, spacious lawns, flowering plants etc., which creates an enchanting environment in the sanctuary.
Nature Education Centre- One can gain all the information about various animals & plants at the nature education centre. It also has a library, where one can get all the details about the place.
Accessibility
The best way of reaching the sanctuary is by road as the sanctuary is well connected by road to major places. It is at a distance of 38kms from Margao and 50kms from Panaji.
