Golaghat is a popular city located in the Indian state of Assam. This city came into existence in the year 1987. The name of Golaghat means the anchoring point of the ferry or a boat. It was given by the Marwari traders of Rajasthan. Golaghat is endowed with the beautiful meadows and valleys that have a serene ambiance. The region of Golaghat was ruled by the different dynasties like Ahom, Kacharai, Singha and finally by the British.
Golaghat is elevated at 312 feet above the sea level and covers the gross area of 7 sq. km. The major portion of its land is the craggy plain. Golaghat is surrounded by Sonitpur in North, Dimapur in South, Karni Anglong in West and Wokha district in East. The land of this region is fed by the River Narmada. The climate of Golaghat is described as moderate in nature. It encounters normal temperatures amid the year that scale between 15°C-31°C. It receives an ample amount of rainfall with an annual average of 2600 mm.
