Located very close to Chettuva backwaters and harbour, Blangad which is often called as Chavakkad beach is a popular fishing belt with a fishermen colony close to the beach. Surrounded by a scenic landscape of swaying coconut groves and palm trees, this tranquil beach is ideal for beach walking, sunbathing and photography. This place is also good for bird watching as a large number of migratory birds can be spotted here in the winter months. If you want to see the fishermen in action as they return home in their wooden boats from the sea, the best time to be at Blangad beach is in the evening around 4 pm-5 pm.
How to reach?
Located around 5 to 6km from the very famous Guruvayur temple and 2 km from Chavakkad centre, Blangad beach is accessible from every part of the town. The nearest station of this serene beach is Guruvayur railway station.
Best time to visit:
To avoid the extreme heat and humidity, you should plan your trip to Guruvayur in between October to February. However, if you want to witness the grand annual Guruvayur festival, plan your trip in the months of February-March.
