Saraighat Bridge is a well-known tourist attraction in Guwahati. It is a rail-cum-road bridge that stands over the River Brahmaputra. It is a marvelous example of engineering and connects the banks of Brahmaputra at Saraighat. Many local and express trains pass through the bridge, whereas, the local vehicle also utilize this bridge for commuting between places.

1) Saraighat Bridge is connected with the history of Saraighat village in Guwahati. It is said that Saraighat Bridge stands on the exact place where the Ahoms and Mughals fought a battle.
2) The war was fought on the river Brahmaputra as the Mughals wanted to conquer a major part of Assam in the then times. However, the Mughals failed to win the war and stepped back.
3) To mark the victory over the Mughals, Saraighat Bridge was built after many years by the local government.
4) The bridge is 1.4 km long and stands right above the place where the battle was fought between the Mughals and Ahoms. It was opened to the common public in 1962 and since then, it became a major attraction in Guwahati.
