Bhagawan Bahubali Idol is a famous huge structure that represents the Jain God, Swami Bahubali. He was the son of Adinatha, the first Jain Tirthankara and performed atonement to become the first Digambara monk to attain moksha. He performed the atonement in a standing posture in order to get rid of the sin of defeating his elder brother in all competitions from becoming the proprietor. His body was covered by the climber plants during his penance. At present, his idol is located on Vindhyagiri Hill and is visited by a lot of devotees.
It Is Known For:-
1) Bhagawan Bahubali Idol is the highest free-standing structure in Karnataka and has a height of 58 feet.
2) It is entirely constructed out of the white stone and was built by Chavundaraya, a minister and commander during the reign of Ganga dynasty.
3) This idol stands on the sacred Gommateshwara Hill, originally called Vindhyagiri. It is sculpted in a beautiful manner.
4) Mahamastakabhishekam is performed annually and countless Jain devotees participate in it
