Resting in the town of Nuggehalli, Sadasiva Temple is a marvelous example of the ancient times. It was constructed during the rule of the Hoysala Empire. This temple enshrines Lord Mahadeva and is popular for its architecture. It is carved out of a single rock and was built by Bommanna Dandanayaka, the army commander under the reign of King Vira Someshwara.

1) The flinty architecture of Sadasiva Temple is its prime highlight. It is entirely built out of the soapstone with the shikhara carved in the North Indian style of architecture.
2) The ribbed exterior walls of the shrine served as a shield against the weather and it is one among those historical Hindu shrines in Karnataka that are well-preserved.
3) Though this shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva, it houses him in the form of Bhairava. The life-size statue of Goddess Parvati holding the trident, Lord Ganesha, Lord Subramanya (Kartikeya), and Lord Vishnu can also be seen inside the temple.
4) Lord Shiva is worshiped here in the form of a Shivalinga and Maha Shivaratri is a famous festival that is celebrated here enthusiastically.

Sadasiva Temple is a historical site and there are some rules that need to be followed. No one is allowed to enter the temple premises without removing their footwear. Also, no one is allowed to leave the flowers and other ritualistic products after performing the puja.
