Jalandhar is a well-known city in the Indian state of Punjab. It is also counted amid one of the oldest cities in India with a rich history. There are various legends related to its name. According to one legend, this city bears the name of a demon king 'Jalandar', whereas, the other legend claims that it was the capital city of Lava's kingdom. At present, it is a major frequented destination in Punjab.

Jalandhar is surrounded by Hoshiarpur in North, Ludhiana in South, Firozpur in West, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar in East. The climate of this city is described as subtropical humid in nature and due to it, Jalandhar faces scorching summers. The average mercury level during summers is 40°C, whereas, it drops down below 15°C during winters. The annual average rainfall received by this city is 2500 mm.
