During the Lodhi era in India, the Nawab of Sultanpur got this spectacular temple constructed in a Hindu – Muslim style architecture. This is the stunning Shiv Mandir located in the Gur Mandi of Jalandhar. The unique thing about the architecture of this Shiv Mandir is that it has the front façade and gates built in the form of a mosque while the entire inner premise of the temple is inspired by Hindu temple architecture only. Legends have it that the Nawab had his lustful eyes on a newly-married Hindu girl who was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. While the Nawab was trying to get closer to the girl a serpent appeared from nowhere to save the girl. Nawab begged for his life from the serpent and as his repentance built this Lord Shiva Mandir.
