Jamshedpur is a city in the Indian state of Jharkhand. Known by the name of 'The Steel City', it is the place where the first steel plant was set up in India by Jamsetji Tata. The steel plant of Jamshedpur is known as the tenth largest steel plant in the world. It also stands amid the fastest growing cities in the world with an annual growth rate of 2.59%.
Sprawling over 209 sq. km., Jamshedpur is elevated at a height of 522 feet above the sea level. The terrains of this city are rough. Jamshedpur or "The Steel Capital of Jharkhand" faces a tropical climate. The temperatures, during summer, shoot up to 40°C during the day and come to rest at 31°C at night. During winters, the average temperatures do not rise beyond 14°C.
