The sanctuary is situated near the city of Jamshedpur in the state of Jharkhand. The summers here are very pleasant and people from all over the country are attracted towards this place. During summer the temperature is generally under 300C.
Flora- The place is very rich in vegetation cover and comprises of various species of plants & trees, which are hard to find somewhere else.
Fauna- The sanctuary is a home to various species of animals that mainly comprises of elephants, gaurs, black buck, chital, wild dogs, sambar, gharials, muggers and many more. During summer times various herds of elephants come to this place in search of water.
Gaurs remain close to elephants as they can feed on the clumps that are pulled down by elephants. With the presence of various rivers, one can find a large number of muggers and gharials along the banks.
