Khargone is township cum emerging commercial hub in Madhya Pradesh. The place was known as Nimar or Nimarya in the foregone times. According to the legends, there were plenty of neem trees that gave this name to Khargone. Another legend states that the rulers of Khargone in previous times belong to both races of Aryans and Non-Aryan hence, gave it the name Nimarya.
Khargone is hoisted at a height of 846 above sea level and cover an area of 8030 sq. km. It is surrounded by Indore in North, Maharashtra in South, Khanda in East and Barwani in West.
