Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary is a famous sanctuary in the district of Kurnool. It shares its border with the state of Karnataka. Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary was established in the year 1988 to provide protection to the then endemic species of the Great Indian Bustard. It is one of the must-see attractions in Kurnool and many tourists visit there.
It Is Known For:-
1) Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary is known as the ‘Habitat of the Great Indian Bustard’. The bustards are found here in a large number
2) Apart from Bustards, other mammals like the fox, macaque, Indian cobra, sloth bear, black buck etc. are also found. The avifauna in this sanctuary also provides a shelter to the several birds including bar-headed geese, waterfowl, Indian roller bird etc.
3) Due to a vast variety of the avifauna, this sanctuary is a delight for the bird watchers
4) The migratory birds like the pink flamingo and demoiselle crane also visit this sanctuary during winters
5) Nature enthusiasts also admire the beauty of this wildlife sanctuary.
