Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary is a renowned tourists’ attraction in Gujarat. It is located near the Rann of Kutch and is visited on a huge scale. It is also known by the name of Wild Ass Wildlife Sanctuary and was established in the year 1972. It spans a total area of 5000 sq. km. and is a home to the Indian wild ass that is locally known as Ghudkhar.
It Is Known For:-
1) Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary is one of the last places on earth where the Asian wild asses (ghudkhar) can be spotted.
2) This sanctuary is a home to a vast number of ghudkhars. Nearly 3000 wild asses are said to occupy this region.
3) Apart from the wild asses, the animals like the chinkara, spotted deer, nilgai, white-foot fox, wolf, jackal, hyena etc.
4) More than 7,500 birds are attracted to this sanctuary. It also includes the migratory birds especially the flamingo, spoonbill, geese, and others.
5) Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary is also a home to the tribes of Rabadi & Bharwad.

Wild Ass Wildlife Sanctuary is a great place to spend a day’s itinerary. It can be visited the best from October-March because it is the season when the weather is pleasantly cool and allows exploring the site conveniently.
