Dewa Sharif, Lucknow is a tomb built in the beloved memory of saint named, Haji Waris Ali Shah. Dewa Sharif is located 25 kms far from Lucknow in the Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh. Dewa or Dewa Sharif is one of the most visited places in Luckknow and is believed to be a significant site of Muslim heritage. History:
As far as the history of Dewa Sharif, Lucknow is talked about, it is dedicated to the Haji Waris Ali Shah, who happened to be from the honourable family of Hussaini Syeds. Haji Waris Ali Shah was born long back in the 19th century and is said to be the founder of Warsi order of Sufism. In addition to this, Haji Waris Ali Shah is the man who took several pilgrimages to Mecca. As far as the reports are to be believed, he was a representative who taught people about divinity, compassion, peace, universal brotherhood as well as well-being. Even in countries such as England, Berlin and Turkey, he had many followers out there. When he passed away, the tomb named, Dewa Sharif was built by his devotees in his honour.
Festival:
At Dewa Sharif, there are two festivals that are celebrated with great pomp and show namely, Urs festival and holi festival. The former is an annual festival that is carried out for over a period of 10 days in order to commemorate the saint. It happens during the months of October- November, during which the Dewa Sharif is all decorated in tinsel and fairy lights. The festival then showcases a procession, which is inclusive of an all India Mushaira, Kavi Sammelan, music performances etc.

Although one can visit Dewa Sharif, Lucknow anytime during the entire year, but it is advised to visit Dewa Sharif is from the months of November to March. The reason why we are saying is because of the fact that the temperature during these months revolves around 25 degree Celsius, which means that the weather would be pleasant and amazing to explore the Sharif.

The nearest airport to reach Lucknow is Chaudhary Charan International Airport. From there you can take a cab or taxi or an auto to reach Dewa Sharif, Lucknow.
