Pazhamudhir Solai aka Pazhamudhircholai is a beautiful Hindu temple in Madurai. This temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan and stands on a hillock. This place is said to be the place where Lord Murugan tested his ardent devotee, saint Avvaiyar. She was a scholar and poetess and had nothing to eat during a journey. She took refuge under a tree and heard a boy asking her about some roasted fruits. She expressed her desire to eat the roasted fruits but suspected the boy's real identity. After requesting him, Lord Murugan appeared and blessed her.
