You can also take Neral-Matheran toy train from the marketplace and trek for 2 km through rocky terrain. Though taking a horse ride is a convenient and time-saving option, trekking to this point through the lush green landscape is a wonderful experience. The trek to the point is strenuous but the sight of the mountains is worth the pain. The most easily accessible railway junction from Matheran would be Pune. You can take a bus or taxi from Pune to reach Matheran. Located at a distance of 131 km, the nearest airport is Pune airport.
