1) Nav Nalanda Mahavihara was revived in 1951 as a university by Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
2) Ven. Bhikshu Kashyap became the director of the university. The research on the Buddhist teachings was done by the Indian and foreign students.
3) It was developed as a center for the higher education in the subjects of Pali, Mandarin, Sanskrit, Hindi, Philosophy, English, Buddhist Studies etc.
4) In the year 2006, the status of a Deemed University was given to it.
