During conversation, Goddess Parvati arises a query regarding his favorite location outside the Kailasa he had built for himself. He selected Srisailam, a sacred site tucked away in scenic nature, to serve as the avatar of Sri Chakra. Shiva-Shakti manifests as Sri Bramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple in such a key position to bless all of their worshippers. The Puranas demonstrate Srisailam's significant antiquity. The Mallikarjuna Swami Lingam is the second of the 12 Jyotirlingas. Sri Bhramaramba Devi Temple is the sixth of the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas.
Only in Sri Bramaramba Mallikarjuna Swami Temple, Srisailam do two of these idols coexist on the same temple grounds. That is the import of it.
History
An Upasana was once done in the name of Gayatri Devi by a Raakshas by the name of Arunasura. He longed to remain eternal, but Gayatri Devi told him she couldn't fulfill such a dream. Only Lord Brahma, she said, would be able to accomplish it. Arunasura heeded the counsel and began his severe Tapasya to appease Lord Brahma.
When Lord Brahma learns of the desire for immortality, he declares that it goes against the laws of the cosmos. He suggests that he make a different wish instead. After giving it some thought, Arunasura declares that he would never perish at the hands of two- or four-legged creatures. It is granted by Brahma.
Arunasura, who believed he was eternal and unconquerable, continues to cause problems and doesn't even spare the gods. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are informed of the gods' displeasure at his actions. The ruthless Arunasura is slain by Parvathi Devi, who adopts the form of Bhramara, a thousand bees.
