Kapaleshwar Temple is a renowned Shiva temple in Nashik. It is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and is flocked by millions of devotees throughout the year. Unlike other temples, where an idol of Nandi Bull can be spotted at the gate, it is not spotted at Kapaleshwar Temple. The interesting tale behind it goes like this- Once Lord Shiva accidentally killed a cow. He was advised by Nandi to take a dip in the holy waters of Ramkund located in Nashik. It will wash away his sin. Considering his advice, he left for Nashik and gave the title of a ‘Guru’ or ‘Teacher’.
