History
Although most of the natural escapes do not have any historical story as such but the story behind the naming of this waterfall is very interesting. According to the local legends, it is believed that during the British rule, the English women used to take a dip in the inviting pool below the waterfall. The locals of the region would consider them to be fairies or Apsaras in their language. They used to see the white women as fairies in the pool and so named it as Apsara Vihar itself.

In order to reach here, tourists usually take a cab or hire gypsies to reach the breathtakingly beautiful region. You need to reach Pachmarhi to get to the Apsara Vihar waterfall. There are many trains and buses regularly plying to Pachmarhi from different cities like Bhopal and others. If you are coming via air to Pachmarhi, you need to book a flight for Bhopal from where there are many buses and other local transport options to reach there.
