With its name taken from the two Punjabi words ‘bara’ meaning twelve and ‘dar’ meaning doors, the Baradari Garden has twelve entrances. Maharaja Rajinder Singh started the construction of this magnificent garden in 1876. Owing to his likeness for Mughal style, the entire garden premise reflects the brilliant Mughal-style architecture. Located on the outside of the Sheranwala Gate in the North of Patiala, the Baradari Garden also shows the Maharaja’s love and interest towards nature. The plant species that are seen in this garden were brought by the Maharaja himself from different places to enrich his garden. The Baradari Palace, within the precincts of the Baradari Garden, served as the residence of the Maharaja and today has a number of documents stored inside it.

Best Time To Visit:-
The Garden is an ideal spot for morning and evening strolls. The tall trees offer a lot of shade which makes gives the travelers respite from the scorching heat of the sun. However, one should avoid visiting this garden during the hot summer months like May, June, July.

Located in the north of the Old Patiala City, Baradari Garden is easily accessible by road. It is near the bus stand. Tourists can take public transport like buses or autos to reach this Garden area.
