Originally known as Kha Chot Palri that translates into the ‘Heaven of Padmasambhava’. This lake is located 34 km. from Pelling town and is considered as sacred by the followers of Hinduism and Buddhism. According to the legends, Lord Padmasambhava preached to sixty-four yoginis. Another legend says that a local girl lost a precious gem in the lake that was blessed by the Lake Goddess Tara herself. Till date, the gemstone lies somewhere in the lake and thus, the lake is regarded as sacred.
